Golden Club - Golden Rescue

What's the Difference? Relationship?

Where Should I Belong?

Golden Retriever Club of Central NY (GRCCNY - "Club") and Golden Retriever Rescue of Central NY (GRRCNY - "Rescue") are two separate and distinct organizations. Individually incorporated, each has its own constitution, by-laws, officers and board of directors. Each maintains its own finances and banking. The logo at left is that of the Club, and to the right is Rescue's.

What’s The Difference?

The Club’s mission is multifaceted - Seeking to address all issues relating to the welfare of Goldens, such as: responsible and quality breeding, health and genetics, training and showing, and general public education. Rescue’s mission is more specifically focused: to accept, provide needed care for, and find new homes for unwanted and homeless Goldens.

Is There A Relationship? Why Have Two Organizations?

The Club and Rescue each strongly endorses the mission and promotes the work of the other. There are many overlapping interests as both are dedicated to the welfare of Goldens. The Club reaches out to all Golden owners with educational efforts such as meeting programs, newsletter, special seminars/clinics, and Fun Day. Rescue spends a good deal of effort in fundraising - with periodic Club assistance, creating public awareness of its work, and also has a strong vested interest in responsible breeding, ownership, and Golden health matters. The rationale for two organizations rises primarily out of the extent of organization, work and financing required to operate Rescue. Virtually a 365 day-per-year effort, Rescue requires constant coordination of intake/foster care/placement. Significant finances are needed to fund routine and specialized veterinary care, plus other operating costs. As a separate entity, Rescue is able to maintain legal recognition as a charitable agency - qualifying donations to be tax-deductible.

Membership

Both the Club and Rescue encourage dual membership. Both organizations award no-cost membership to new Rescue adopters, in the interest of assuring every adopted Golden’s welfare - through useful information provided via newsletters, special events, and contact with other Golden owners.

Newsletters & Internet Web Sites

Rescue’s newsletter, The Barquer - published quarterly, focuses on current activity and follow-up reports on adopted Goldens. It also contains useful information on care and training. Golden Tales, published bi-monthly by the Club, reports a broader perspective of the Golden "world," but with a strong emphasis on care, health and training - as well as sponsored events and activities. Rescue's web site is at www.grrcny.org and the Club's is at www.dreamscape.com/grccny.
